Anaphylaxis caused by mosquito allergy in systemic mastocytosis: A causal relationship

Abstract Anaphylaxis to the mosquito is rare. We report 4 cases of patients with severe anaphylactic reaction after mosquito bites. These 4 patients have systemic mastocytosis. This combination of 2 rare diseases does not seem to be the result of chance and we recommend in case of anaphylaxis to the mosquito to carry out an assay of serum tryptase intercritical and in case of elevation to address the patient to our colleagues internists to search for a mastocytosis.
