Mg-doping improves the performance of Ru-based electrocatalyst for acidic oxygen evolution reaction

Magnesium doped ultra-fine RuO2 nanoparticles are prepared by annealing Ru-exchanged Mg-MOF-74. Mg-RuO2 exhibits excellent acidic oxygen evolution reaction performance with a low overpotential of 228 mV at 10 mA cm-2 in 0.5 M H2SO4. The excellent performance is attributed to the altered electronic structure and optimized surface atomic arrangement.
