Synergistic effect of TiF3 on the dehydriding property of α-AlH3 nano-composite

Abstract High dehydriding temperatures have been a major challenge hindering the application of AlH 3 , a potential hydrogen storage material. In this work, α -AlH 3 /LiCl nano-composite was synthesized by an efficient and environmentally friendly mechanochemical method. TiF 3 was introduced to the LiH/AlCl 3 reaction system to improve the hydrogen desorption property of the nano-composite. With the TiF 3 addition, the dehydriding kinetics of the α -AlH 3 composite were improved. The dehydriding mechanism of AlH 3 and its interaction with TiF 3 were also studied.
