Study on load characteristics of asynchronous motor with capacitor in aviation variable frequency power supply system

“More electric/all electrical aircraft” become the development trend in modern aviation, which leads a large increase of motor devices. This makes the power supply system inductive. A capacitor filter is used to improve the load characteristics and correct the power factor. Coupled with the using of 360∼800Hz power supply system, the load characteristics of the system will become complex. This paper consider the general situation, the equivalent model of asynchronous motor with capacitor is established, the model is simplified, and the simplified RL model impedance is derived to analyze the load characteristics of the asynchronous motor. Combined with the example, the impact of the load characteristics for changing frequency and different capacitor parameters is analyzed under aviation VF system (360∼800Hz).
