Hybrid Flying Capacitor Inverter Based on Array Bootstrap Driver for High Power Density Application

High efficiency and compact converters are in demand in many applications. The multilevel converter is a promising choice for high-efficiency and high-power-density design. So, in this paper, the hybrid flying capacitor converter based on all Si power devices is adopted to complete the challenge. Apart from reducing the volume of filter inductor, the optimization of conduction loss and special design considerations of power stage are introduced in detail. Further, an array bootstrap driving circuit is proposed to relieve the voltage dip caused by multistage cascade bootstrap diode. The simulation and experimental prototype are built to verify the effectiveness of this high-power-density inverter design.
