The degree of orientation of as-spun Lavsan fibre

The aim of the work reported here was to evolve a rapid and precise method of determining the degree of spinning orientation which could be used in production practice and in the research laboratory. The experiments were carried out with 111 tex undrawn tec~mical Lavsan fibre produced on a PP-IOOO-18LK machine at a spinning speed of 650 m per minute. The airflow was varied in order to vary the degree of spinning orientation of the fibre specimens. The criterion of the level of spinning orientation was represented by the maximum draw ratio obtained in cold drawing at a speed of 15 m/min. The correrelation was determined between the proposed methods of determining the spinning orientation and the maximum draw ratio.
