Bacterial motility as a potential tool for rapid toxicity assays

1993
Bacterial motility was evaluated as a potential tool for the rapid assay of the toxicity of chemicals to microorganisms. The level of toxicity was evaluated by the chemical concentration which caused a 50% reduction in motile bacteria at the 60 s of exposure to toxicants. Assay results showed a good correlation with those obtained from a conventional growth inhibition test.
