Knowledge Management in the E & P Sector: Concepts, Standards and a Vision for the Future

New information technologies are poised to meet the E and P industry`s growing need for a comprehensive technology transfer system that provides easy access to a wide range of information and training resources. Ongoing developments in electronic knowledge management offer a means of imparting structure, accessibility, and quality-control mechanisms to such a system. In this paper, the authors discuss new developments in technology transfer, report on results from a technology transfer survey of 92 companies, and suggest how knowledge management may be applied in the E and P sector.
