Therapeutic value of trimetazidine on the left ventricular function in patients with coronary heart disease and diabetes

2008
Objective To explore the effects of trimetazidine on improving the left ventricular function in patients with coronary heart disease and diabetes. Methods Forty-one cardiac insufficiency paticnts with coronary heart disease and diabetes were divided into two groups randomly. The control-group(n=21) were treated routinely while the treatment group were given 20mg of trimetazidine PO,tid. The therapy was kept up for 12 weeks.Patients were followed up for 12 weeks and assessments included the grade of cardiac function(NYHA)and echocardiography. Results Compared with the control group, the grade of cardiac function in patients of the treatment group was greatly improved after the trimetazidine treatment(P0.05).In patients of the treatment group, the left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF)was dramatically increased and the left ventricular end-distolic diameter(LVEDD)greatly reduced(P0.05).Conclusion Trimetazidine is shown to have good therapeutic effects on the left ventricular function in patients with coronary heart disease and diabetes.
