Method of polarization-based visualization for skin health analysis

The work is aimed at developing the method of polarization-based visualization for non-invasive study of human skin health. Using this method, it is possible to visualize the area of subcutaneous lesions without the need for additional skin trauma. In this work we suggested the experimental setup and method of image processing. In the work we compared polarimetric images of skin and phantoms registered in white and infrared light. The results demonstrated that the polarization visualization method allows identifying and distinguishing tissues located in the upper and lower layers of the skin and. Visible spectrum of light is better for skin surface analyzing, while infrared light should be used for detecting of structures in the skin depth.
