G6 Behaviour problem of chinese huntington disease patients

2016
Aims To investigate the clinical manifestation, inherited pattern and the related factor of Chinese Huntington’s disease (HD) families. Methods The clinical data from 22 HD families was collected from 2013–2016. Patients (probands) received the genetic test and neurological evaluations including motor, cognitive and behaviour problem. Results 22 patients had the IT15 gene dynamic mutations, with the onset age ranged from 13 to 54. Typical chorea movements were always the first symptoms that were noticed. Irritability was the most common symptoms (77%) at a very early stage of the illness rather than depression or anxiety. Furthermore, impairment of the theory of mind (ToM) was also observed in these patients. Conclusions Chorea movement is the typical symptom of HD. Irritability is the most common behavioural symptom of these patients and may be linked to the ToM function.
