SMEs internationalization strategies and public support on emerging and advanced markets: the Casa of Umbria experience in Shanghai

2017
The strengthening of the economic systems of India and China, both in terms of overall growth of wealth that's relative weight in international trade, has led to economic operators and public officials the introduction of new strategic development trajectories. Objective is the analysis of the strengths and weaknesses expressed by the local SMEs, with particular reference: to the individual path of internationalization; the public support to this path achieved through specific promotional activities. The paper proposes the analysis of a case study aimed at understanding the relationship between resources present in Umbria (in terms of public support for internationalization) and resources and expertise of the companies in the path of internationalization in developed markets and emerging markets. The research methodology used is that of case studies. Our study adds to the importance of a link between the literature on the resources present in the area in terms of support to the internationalization and the internationalization strategies of SMEs.
