Diversidad de familias de Collembola, en suelos de vocación arrocera en Panamá

With the purpose to know the diversity and abundance of Collembola´s family for Panama in soils with vocation for the cultivation of rice, this study was carried-out in the year 2009. Collecting of specimens was done using pitfall traps. A total of 37950 specimens were collected in three areas monitored; 9150 specimens at Barro, Blanco, Bugaba, Chiriqui, distributed in 7 families; 7253 at Dos Bocas, Ocu, Herrera, distributed in 9 famiies and 21547 specimens at Tocumen, Panama, distributed in 9 families. The families of Collembola found in the 3 areas studied were: Isotomidae, Entomobryidae, Paronellidae, Sminthuridae, Sminthurididae, Brachystomelldae and Onuchiuridae. Maenwhile Dicyrtomidae and Hypogastruridae wewr only found in the sites of Dos Bocas, Ocu, Herrera and Tocumen, Panama. The Data of this study is happend to be the first register of Collembola family in soil with vocation for rice cultivation in Panama, and it gives information about the biology, diversity and abundance of this group.
