High power transmission properties of all-solid photonic bandgap fibre and its application to Raman amplification

2012
The application of solid core photonic bandgap fibres to high power transmission in fibre amplification systems is presented. Because of the spectral filtering characteristics of such fibres with at least several hundreds of dB/km outside the transmission window of the spectrum, stimulated Raman scattering can be reduced. The limitations of such fibres in high power transmission are discussed based on experimental results.
