Clinical study on treatment of ureteral polyps with holmium laser combined with end flexible ureteroscope and rigid ureteroscopy

Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy of holmium laser combined with end flexible ureteroscope and rigid ureteroscopy in the treatment of ureteral polyps. Methods A retrospective analysis was made on 21 cases of ureteral polyps treated by holmium laser resection of ureter in our hospital from May 2012 to February 2017. The improvement of symptoms after operation was observed. Results A total of 21 cases of ureteral polyps were treated by combination of end flexible ureteroscope and rigid ureteroscopy with holmium laser, all of the pathological reports were fibrous epithelial polyps, 14 cases were primary polyps, and the others were secondary polyps, which was associated with stones and incarcerated in 7 cases.The postoperative symptoms were improved, the renal function was good, and the water was reduced in different degrees.One case of ureteral stricture showed clinical improvement after indwelling Double-J tube.There were no serious complications such as ureteral mucosa avulsion, perforation or tunnel formation. Conclusions Holmium laser combined with end flexible ureteroscope and rigid ureteroscopy holmium laser is a safe and effective method for the treatment of ureteral polyps.
