A belt (38) for use in the transport of one or more respiratory protection components (32), the belt characterized by comprising: a main belt portion (64) having a rear section (68) containing a plurality slots (52) therethrough, a left side section (70), a left connective section (72) between the back section (68) and the left side section (70), a right side section (74 ) and a right connective section (76) between the back section (68) and the right side section (74), wherein the rear section (68) is wider than the left side section (70) and the side section right (74). wherein the main belt portion (64) is generally frustoconical in shape to be secured around the pelvic girdle of the user to align a respective protection component thereon over the lumbar region (12) of the spine of the user (14) to distribute a weight of the respiratory component (32) around a pelvis of the user; a fastener assembly (50) coupled to the main belt portion (64) through at least one of the plurality of slots (52) for mounting the respiratory component (32) in the main belt portion (64); and a portion of belt buckle (66) having a right piece connected to the right side section of the main belt portion (64) and a left piece connected to the left side section of the main belt portion.
