Laparoscopic surgery for adrenal pheochromocytoma(report of 7 cases)

2001
Objective To evaluate the application of laparoscopic surgery for adrenal pheochromocytoma. Methods 7 cases of adrenal pheochromocytoma were treated with laparoscopic surgery. The laparoscopic procedures included 5 transperitoneal and 2 retroperitoneal approaches. Results Success was achieved in 6 cases while in the other one the procedure was transferred to open surgery because of pancreas injury with bleeding. Postoperative follow up has been 10~48 months. In all the patients blood pressure returned to normal and no residual tumors were found after laparoscopic surgery. Conclusions As long as preoperative preparation was adequate, laparoscopic surgery could be safe and feasible for tumors smaller than 6 cm.
