The Power of the ECB to Impose Sanctions in the Context of the SSM

This article briefly analyses the new framework for the ECB sanctioning powers in the context of the SSM, in particular in light of Article 18 SSM Regulation. In particular the structure of Article 18, the difference between administrative penalties and sanctions and the procedural safeguards for penalties belonging to the criminal sphere are analysed.
