Color tunable and white light emitting lanthanide metal-organic framework materials

2018
Abstract In our previous work, a family of isostructural lanthanide metal-organic frameworks, [Ln 3 (L) 3 (H 2 O) 2 ]·(H 3 O) 3 ·(H 2 O) 4 ·(DMF) 3 (abbreviated as Ln 3 (L) 3 (H 2 O) 2 , Ln = Eu, Tb, Sm, Dy and Gd) were synthesized under solvothermal conditions based on a semi-rigid tetravalent carboxylic tetracarboxylic acid (3,3′,5,5′-biphenyltetracarboxylic acid, H 4 L). Due to the good sensitization of the H 4 L ligand, Ln 3 (L) 3 (H 2 O) 2 all show the intense characteristic emission bands of the corresponding lanthanide ions. The optical properties of Ln 3 (L) 3 (H 2 O) 2 can be easily tuned by doping different lanthanide ions into the same host frameworks. Moreover, white-light emission can be successfully realized for four kinds of codoped compounds Tb 0.005 Eu 0.005 Gd 0.990 L, Dy 0.006 Eu 0.006 Gd 0.988 L, Dy 0.0002 Sm 0.001 Gd 0.9988 L and Tb 0.002 Sm 0.006 Gd 0.992 L (the value refer to the starting molar ratios of Ln 3+ ions).
