Etude de la toxicité cochléaire de la néomycine et de son dérivé de condensation N,N′-diméthanesulfinique☆

1965
Abstract The cochlear toxicity of neomycin and of its N,N′ -dimethanesulfinic condensation derivative has been studied in the guinea pig by use of the Preyer reflex and by recording microphonic potentials. The compounds are ototoxic. The toxicity of neomycin is manifested before that of its sulfinic derivative. In both cases, sufficient doses can result in total deafness. A histologic study of the middle ear confirms the results of audiometric examinations.
