Coupling of fibers of different diameter in photopolymerizable composite

2010
An opportunity of optical coupling in photopolymerizable composites of pair of single-mode fibers essentially differing in the core diameter is investigated. It is shown that polymeric connective element formed in a photopolymerizable medium under the self-channeling and interacting of laser beams with the wavelength of 0.63 μm provides effective joining of single-mode fibers at the wavelength 1.55 μm. Experimental results of optical formation of matching polymeric elements are presented for pairs of fibers SMF-28 and CS-980, SMF-28 and Ge-507sm.
