Human Growth and Development: Merging Life Span Development With the Counseling Process

As with each of the individual courses you have read about in this text, the coursework directly related to theories of human development helps provide students with useful knowledge and skills to better meet the needs of their future clients. Additionally, as with the other courses, the theories and approaches housed within the human development domain are not stand-alone ideologies but can, and should, be infused into other coursework within a comprehensive counselor education program. What we offer in the pages that follow are our suggestions about how to best meet the needs of your students in this course. We believe this is effectively accomplished by merging theory with practice in order to better prepare students to work effectively with the diverse clientele they may serve during their professional careers.
