Inhibition of sulfonated chitosan on human breast cancer cell line MCF-7.

2010
Objective:To study the effect of sulfonated chitosan(SCTS) on proliferation, apoptosis of MCF-7 cells in vitro.Methods:MCF-7 human breast carcinoma cell lines were treated with SCTS in vitro, cell proliferation was evaluated by MTT assay;cell apoptosis was evaluated by microfluormetric and FCM.Results:sulfonated chitosan can inhibit the growth of human breast cells MCF-7 were efficiently inhibited,in dose-dependent and time-dependent;The morphological changes of apoptosis were found under microfluormetric;FCM indicated the increased cell population in the G0/G1 phase was associated with a decreased cell number in the S phase. Conclusion:Sulfonated chitosan can effectively inhibit proliferation and induce the apoptosis of human breast carcinom cells MCF-7 in vitro.
