Multi-machine Power System Stabilizers Optimal Design Considering Multiple Operating Modes

This paper studies the problem of coordination and optimization of multi-machine PSS parameters under multiple operating modes. Firstly, there employs principal component analysis method based on trajectory sensitivity to select the optimal feedback input signals of PSS. Secondly, this paper proposes multi-objective optimization constraints including stability objective function and robust objective function. Then a special simplified method is proposed to filter partial oscillation curves into the objective function with larger correlation factors. Finally, employ the above optimization methods to design multi-machine PSS with EPRI-36 test system. Test and analysis results indicate that the proposed methods improve the positive damping of test system more effectively and implement better robust control effects for unknown operating modes and faults.
