Comparacion tecnico-economica de ensilados quimicos y biologicos de pescado

1995
A review is presented on the production of fish silage by biological and chemical techniques, as well as its present time utilization. Capital investment cost estimation to install fish silage plantas was evaluated by using a factor method. Cost-capacity factors for biological and chemical fish silage were calculated. An assessment of the production costs for both alternatives were analyzed. The lowest production costs were found to be for biological silage. However, if acid is very cheap, chemical silage can compete favourably. Furthermore, in countries where domestic costs are relatively high, the cost per unit of protein for silage as a componet of animal feed is lower than that for fish meal.
