Plastinierte Körperfeinschnitte als neues Hilfsmittel zur Darstellung der Schnittanatomie am Beispiel der Bauch- und Beckenhöhle des Hundes 1

2002
Plastic-embedded, transparent serially sectioned slices from the canine abdomen and pelvis were compared with traditional cross-sections and computed tomograms. Three beagle dogs were used in this study. Slices were cut at 4 mm thickness and plastinated with the epoxy resin Biodur E 12. The slices were examined macroscopically and under a magnifying glass. Survey, detail and magnification photographs were taken. In contrast to traditional sections, plastinated slices were transparent, hard, dry, odourless, resistant and durable. Conservation of colours made it easy to identify organs and transparency even permitted Iow power microscopical examination. Serial sections enabled one to follow the courses of vessels and nerves and to envisage their spatial relationship. In this way the body slices provided an essential base to identify anatomical structures on computed tomograms.
