The routesofspreadofpathogens into thepancreasinacutepancreatitis were investigated. Fourexperiments wereperformed: (1)catswithandwithout acute pancreatitis weregiven 107Escherichia coli (E colt) intravenously, (2)incatswith acutepancreatitis 108E coli wasplaced in thecolon. Inhalfofthemthecolonwas thenenclosed inanimpermeable bagto prevent transmural spread. (3)E coli (104) wasplaced inthepancreatic ductincats withandwithout acutepancreatitis.
