The analysis of the amino acid in toad coat and observation on the effect of feeding mice with toad coat

Toad coat(Chantui) is a new officinal part of Bufo bufo gargarizans Cantor.The amino acids in it was analalyzed with automatic amino acid analyzer Model Hitachi 835-50.The effect of feeding mice with Toad coat was also observed.A group of mice were fed with Toad coat(16 g/kg/d) for 2 weeks.Results show that there was no side effects when the mice was fed with such high dose of Toad coat and those animals grew very well.Amino acid analysis showed that there is a variety of essential and non-essential amino acids in Toad coat,which accounted for more than 50% of the total dry weight.So Toad coat could be viewd as a new valuable medicinal and edible source.
