Genetic analysis and molecular mapping of red pericarp gene in Oryza longistaminata.

Red pericarp in rice has some medical functions and very high nutritional value accumulated in the pericarp layer.And the ingredient of red pigments was condensed tannin or proanthocyanidin(PA).In this study,BC6F1 population derived from interspecific hybrid RD23/Oryza longistaminata and backcrossing to RD23 were utilized as recurrent parent to make molecular mapping of red pericarp gene introgressed from O.longistaminata.Red pericarp gene was mapped between RM3859 and RM214 on chromosome 7,located in the same region of Rc in Oryza rufipogon.
