Ultrahigh vacuum systems for storage rings and accelerators

Because of the slow and expensive beam accumulation process for storage rings beam lifetimes must be of the order of days. So, high vacuums are essential in a storage ring design. Different vacuum systems, leak detection, and vacuum measurement are some of the instrumentation considered in this article. Also, a possible design for and a contamination check list in the vacuum system of a storage ring is given. (AIP)
