Satellite broadband access usage and reliability evaluation in Rural Wings

2009
Today, broadband connectivity is as important for economic prosperity and quality of life as decent road and public transport networks. Through their immediate and far-reaching connectivity, satellite communications allow to extend broadband networks to rural and isolated areas. In this context, Rural Wings project aims to deploy and operate more than 100 satellite broadband access networks for tele-education applications in rural and remote regions in Europe. The present paper provides an overview of the network usage and reliability results obtained in 2008. (6 pages)
