Synthesis and Characterization of Sodium Diacetyl Monoxime Xanthate (SDAMX) and its Application as Photocatalyst for the Degradation of Methylene blue and Potentiometric Estimation of Hg(II)ion

2018
Abstract Sodium DiacetylMonoxime Xanthate (SDAMX) is a dark yellow crystalline solid material synthesized by the reaction of DiacetylMonoxime (DAM) and carbon disulphide in the presence of a base under ice cold condition since reaction is exothermic. The SDAMX was characterized by UV-Vis, FT-IR and Raman Spectroscopy. The SDAMX is fluorescent in nature. The UV-Vis and Fluorescent Spectroscopy of SDAMX are recorded at various pHs (pH=1-10). The potentiometric application was carried out for Hg(II) ion, using different pHs (pH=1-10). The photocatalytic activity work was also being carried out on Methylene blue (MB) in the presence of SDAMX which is a good photocatalytic reagent.
