Findings: Indicators of system balance in the mechanistic and organic interpretations of economic life are Revealed. It is concluded that political economy is relevant for the classical explanation of certain types of supercomplicated economic States. Special attention is paid to ontological situations described by non-classical science, when the phenomenon of balance is revealed through the interaction of subject and system meanings. The authors project the system doctrine of N. Luman on the desired subject area of economic theory. To explicate the phenomenon of economic balance, the system-system and system-external environment relations are conceptualized. Put forward the position that current trends of economic growth and sustainable development involve three types of States economic system (national economy), with indicators of intersystem interactions (Economics of law, Economics of education, etc.) with the state of the environment (geopolitical controversies, global processes). Originality: The Originality of the author’s concept is to identify the subjective and objective meanings of economic balance. For this purpose, economic behavior and systemic institutional effects are considered within the framework of non-classical and post-non-classical philosophical and scientific thinking.
