HIV-1 subtype analysis in HIV infections in northern Guangxi.

2010
Objective To investigate HIV-1 subtype distribution in in HIV infections in northern Guangxi. Methods Anticoagulant whole blood samples of 80 persons in northern regions of Guangxi, who had been identified to be infected with HIV-1,were collected. The proviral DNA was extracted,of which the C2~V3 region of the virus membrane protein ENV gene was amplified by nested polymerase chain reaction(nested-PCR),then the purified PCR products was equenced.Besides, the sequence was analyzed by GCG software. Results 55 env gene sequences obtained by PCR amplification were compared with various subtypes of international reference strains of HIV-1 based on ENV gene sequences and were performed phylogenetic analysis,4 subtypes of HIV of the samples were confirmed, including 1 copy of HIV-1 B subtype,19 copies of popular restructuring type CRF07-BC,23 copies of popular recombinant CRF08-BC,8 copies of epidemic recombinant CRF01-AE and 4 copies of C subtype. Conclusions HIV-1 subtypes are diversitied in northern regions of Guangxi.
