St James' Anglican Church, Woodhouselee

2009
St James' Church at Woodhouselee (between Goulburn and Crookwell was consecrated on 19 December 1884. Due to declining numbers and the cost of maintaining the building, the church was closed in 2008 with the final service being held on Sunday 26 October 2008. Albert Speer MBE prepared a history of St James in 1993. Although events since 1 are not recorded, Mr Speer's article is reproduced in this issue of the Anglican Historical Society Journal in recognition of the closure of the church after 124 years of Christian witness in the community of Woodhouselee. The article refers to several memorials and items of furniture in St James. The wardens of the church are considering the most appropriate ways in which to preserve these memorials.
