SURVEY ON THE STATUS OF THE LOCATION OF TOOTH FOR ABRASION AMONG ELDERLY POPULATION IN TANGSHAN

[Objective] To measure the prevalence of tooth wear among elderly population in Tangshan in order to develop appropriate gender-specific intervention strategies among elderly population. [Methods] With stratified random sampling method, we selected 600 elderly people from six districts in Tangshan. 600 subjects were examined clinically and by means of a questionnaire. [Results] There were 14 552 tooth remained in the oral of 576 samples, and 7 721 tooth were with tooth wear, the tooth wear incidence was 53.06%, The highest incidence of tooth wear was the left mandible first molar, was 70.17%; And the lowest was the right maxillary first anterior molar, was 42.41%. The tooth wear incidence of maxillary was 50.52%, the left was 50.62%, the right was 50.42%; And the mandible was 55.57%, the left was 55.66%, the right was 55.48%. [Conclusion] The location of tooth for abrasion has both left and right symmetry. There is a significantly higher tooth wear incidence for mandible than maxillary; and posterior teeth of elderly people exhibit greater wear than anterior teeth.
