A contribution on behavioral differences in a discussion on species specificity of organ toxicity must first provide at least a tentative answer to a general question. This question is: what is the rationale for making recourse in toxicology to “soft” behavioral methods, in an age when “hard” methods (morphological, physiological, biochemical, and molecular) have reached a level of remarkable sophistication?
