Burmagrilus cretacus gen. et sp. nov., the first Buprestidae from mid-Cretaceous Burmese amber

Abstract A new buprestid genus and species Burmagrilus cretacus Jiang, Song & Wang gen. et sp. nov. is found from the mid-Cretaceous Burmese amber. The new genus related to the genus Agrilus Curtis, 1825, similarities and differences are given. By sharing similar habitus characters, we surmise the new species might share the same habitual nature as nowadays Agrilus.
