Electromagnetic wave propagation characteristic in a bimodal plasma sheath

Abstract In this paper, the electromagnetic wave propagation characteristic in a plasma sheath with a bimodal electron density distribution model is studied. The power transmission and reflection coefficients are deduced in detail by the analytic method with Weber equation. Meanwhile, the power transmission coefficient is also deduced by WKB method for further numerical simulation and comparison. By which, the feasibility of WKB method in the plasma with the bimodal electron density distribution model is verified and explained by using the efficient condition. The involved results reveal that the power transmission coefficient increases with the increase of incident wave frequency. In short, the related research can provide some theoretical reference for communication.
