Mechanism of hormones in the treatment of sudden sensorineural hearing loss

2017
Sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL) is defined as greater than 20 dB hearing reduction, over at least two contiguous frequencies, occurring over a period less than 72 hours. Now glucocorti-coid therapy has been used as one of the most efficient therapy for SSNHL. In this paper, we summarize application of glucocorticoids in the treatment of SSNHL from the causes of SSNHL, mechanism of glucocorticoid treatment, the mode of administration and characteristics. Key words: Hearing Loss, Sudden; Treatment Outcome; Glucocorticoids
