The curse of the gambling bug

One of my childhood memories is of watching the Warner Bros classic cartoon Early to Bet. The cartoon is the first and only appearance of a character called the Gambling Bug whose bite leads to an irresistible urge to gamble - whatever the consequences of losing. In this case, the unfortunate victim is a black and white cat who, against his better sense, ends up playing a game of Gin Rummy for Penalties where the loser of each hand has to spin for some kind of gruesome punishment.
