An array-based ion storage system and method are disclosed. The system includes: an ion generation portion, and an ion storage section, comprising a first terminal electrode that is coupled to the ion generation portion, and formed so that it has a plurality of holes, a second terminal electrode, which is formed so that it has a plurality of holes an intermediate electrode which is formed so that it has a plurality of holes, a first insulator, which is formed in the shape of a ring and is arranged between the first terminal electrode and the intermediate electrode, to insulate them from each other, and a second insulator which is formed in the shape of a ring and is disposed between the intermediate electrode and the second terminal electrode, to insulate them from each other. With the present invention, the ion storage portion can be made thinner in order to facilitate consistency of ion extraction and to reduce the incidence of ion mobility spectrum peaks.
