Drug Resistance in Kidney Diseases

2021
Chronic kidney diseases are defined as the persistent malfunction of kidneys. Drug resistance in kidney diseases is a concern in health care. Scientists are finding out therapies to treat renal infections. Several drugs and therapeutics are in the market but pathogens are getting immuned to these therapies. Some pathogens are multi-drug resistant. Selection of the best immunosuppressive therapy is a complex method. Finding the balance between their advantages and disadvantages is the key. Dosing and potency must be considered for patients with long-term use to avoid antimetabolic effects regarding diuretics including renal failure, hypomagnesemia, idiosyncratic reactions, and severe allergic reactions. This chapter highlights the drug resistance in kidney diseases which include bacterial resistance, viral resistance, kidney cancer, and kidney transplant. Some suggestions to prevent drug resistance in kidney are also included.
