S & T COMMUNICATION THROUGH PUPPETRY - A CASE STUDY (INDIA)

The social milieu of India is such that the folk dances, folk songs and folk dramas are part and parcel of our live. It has also been observed that it is possible to accelerate the pace of science communication if folk media are employed effectively in regional languages. A nation wide programme was conceived and implemented by National Council For Science & Technology Communication (NCSTC), Govt. of India, on “Science & Technology Communication Through Puppetry”. The paper highlights and analyzes the efforts undertaken by NCSTC in the past decade with special reference to script writing and other experiments.
