Measurements of the spin alignment via. gamma. recoil

The spin alignment of excited states which decay in flight by ..gamma.. emission can be determined by measuring the line shape of the corresponding peak in the energy spectrum of the outgoing particle. The linewidth is broadened by the ..gamma.. recoil and the shape is characteristic for different m substates. (AIP)
