ANALYSIS OF SHIP STRUCTURES, PART 2: BENDING, TORSION AND BUCKLING

1971
Calculations are presented that solve the problem of bending forces about thin-walled elements identical to the type of beams occurring in ship structures. The beams considered include straight beams, curved beams, variable cross-section beams, and beams with flanges. Torsion forces are calculated for pipe sections, wall and beam cross-sections. Columns are treated showing a number of techniques for determining buckling loads including those for centrically and eccentrically loaded columns. Diagrams for estimating effective flange are provided.
