Corrosion protection of pipeline systems operating in coke-oven-gas purification media

A study was made of the corrosion resistance of steel-pipe specimens to which diffusion-type aluminum and zinc platings were applied; investigations were conducted in the media used for purification of coke-oven gas. In order to increase the service life of steel pipes in sulfur-purification and carbonization-product-recovery departments, it is recommended that they be protected with diffusion-type aluminum or zinc platings; a diffusion-type aluminum plating produced from molten aluminum is recommended for pipes to be used in monoethanolamine-purification departments.
