Special Education Directors' Meeting

Kimberly gave a handout to directors, “The Texas Roadmap for Accessible Instructional Materials,” that can assist staff in choosing whether a student needs AIM. In addition, Kimberly said she gave Bookshare information to librarians, special education and curriculum directors. Kimberly stated that Region 2 was 12 in state as far as AT documentation in PEIMS based on 2011-2012 data. New guidance will be available soon, Kimberly added, on students regarding bringing their own technology. Additionally, Kimberly said her Total LID classes are being well-received and that the 2 annual LID Conference is scheduled for August 15-16, 2013. The directors were then given a “live feed” from the Employment Alliance for People with Disabilities 2 Annual Job Fair, courtesy of Karen McCaleb (of TAMUCC)’s IPad.
