Crystal structure of KBi(cit)2H2O

2005
The reaction of bismuth nitrate with potassium citrate was studied in water/glycerol mixtures at the component molar ratios n = cit: Bi = 0.25-14.00. According to chemical analysis, the resulting precipitates had the composition KBi(cit).(1.0-1.5)H 2 O. Slow evaporation of the liquid phase at the point with n = 6 gave the crystals KBi(cit) .2H 2 O, which were studied by X-ray diffraction (space group, C2/c; Z = 8, a = 16.635(7) A, b = 12.360(4) A, c = 10.359(4) A, β = 91.92(3)°, V = 2128(1) A 3 ).
