Correlation studies between available soil nutrients and leaf nutrients and yield of maize grown in Alfisols, Inceptisols and Vertisols in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh

2013
A survey was undertaken to study the correlation between available soil nutrients and leaf nutrients and yield of maize grown in soils belonging to three different orders (Alfisols, Inceptisols and Vertisols) in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. The major (N, P and K), secondary (Ca, Mg and S) and micro (Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu and B) nutrients in index leaf samples of maize crop were positively and significantly correlated with their respective available nutrients in the soil. Among all the soil nutrients, only Available N was positively and significantly correlated with yield of maize crop grown in Inceptisols whereas available N and Ca were positively and significantly correlated with yield of maize crop grown in Vertisols.
